Work Experience: I spent two years working in community mental health before pursuing my masters degree. Since graduating in May of 2018, I have worked in a clinical setting doing therapy for children, adolescents, and adults.
Therapeutic Approach: I know it takes a lot of courage to come to therapy and face the struggles and challenges that individuals are dealing with. I believe everyone has the ability to make changes and find the answers within themselves to help them live a value-filled life. My job as a therapist is to foster a safe space where individuals can come to learn and heal. I believe in building off of individual strengths and catering sessions to each client. Therefore, I believe the therapeutic relationship is key and I strive to make connections and help clients to feel comfortable so we can work efficiently together.
I have experience working with children and families. I enjoy helping parents and understand the effects mental illness can have on a family as a whole. I also have experience of working with religious missionaries, those preparing and those transitioning home from missions.
My work with the school setting has provided me with a knowledge of IEP and 504’s that help children to excel regardless of limitations with mental illness. I believe that every child should be able to have a positive experience in the school setting regardless of challenges they may be facing.
I like to use ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) , ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), and Creative Art Interventions. I believe there is a power in mindfulness and in being present and I incorporate this approach often into my sessions. Although I use these modalities, I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach and will use techniques suited to individual needs.
Personal: I am a new mom and a wife who strongly believes in self care. I enjoy baking, spending time with my family, yoga, four-wheeling and spending time at the family cabin. I have lived in Utah my whole life but am new to Utah County. I am fascinated by individuals and love hearing everyone’s unique stories and experiences.
